The Downtown Lloydminster Business Improvement District is funded by the downtown businesses and property owners through a special levy collected by the City of Lloydminster at tax time. This levy is then provided to the BID who hires the Regional Business Accelerator to carry out the management and administration for the BID. The BID is governed by an 10-person board of directors. The board meets once per month and directs the activities of the BID through the RBA Executive Director, who manages the staff and carries out the directives of the board. Committees exist as sub-units to the board.
Committees include the Marketing & Beautification Committee and the Economic Development Committee, each of which is chaired by a board director and reports back to the board on a monthly basis.
The marketing portion of this committee focuses on three specific initiatives: image, education, and promotion. All of the projects or activities which are undertaken address one ore more of these areas with the ultimate goal of establishing a unique position within the marketplace for the retail, professional and service businesses within the downtown.
The beautification portion oversees issues relating to the aesthetic appeal of the downtown, including the maintenance of the downtown clean-up program and the encouragement of general property improvements. Over the past several years Streetscapes has been involved in a variety of beautification projects including: the banner project, sidewalk bulbing, flower and tree planting program, the summer clean-up program, and the alley art program. In 2014, a pilot project involving the use of self watering containers was be implemented and evaluated.
The Economic Development Committee encourages business growth in the BID Vacancy rates have decreased and a number of specialized retail and service businesses have relocated to Lloydminster’s downtown. The committee has endeavored to speak as a unified voice for the BID membership on issues of downtown business development and expansion.

“Promoting redevelopment through programs and actions which have had a positive impact on, and encourage the development of excellence in downtown Lloydminster.”
Categories: Indoor Renovation, Outdoor Renovation, New Build or Addition, or Seasonal or Theme Display.
Indoor Renovation – Recognizes a downtown business for improving the interior appearance of their business and creating a more welcoming atmosphere to patrons and/or employees.
Outdoor Renovation – Recognizes a downtown business for improving the exterior appearance of their business, and thus enhancing the image downtown.
New Building/Addition – Granted to a business that has built a new building, or has made a significant addition to an existing building, in the downtown business district.

Recipients will be announced at the Streetscapes Annual General Meeting.
